Wondering where to elope in Michigan?
Is where to elope in Michigan the burning question of the day? Then you've come to the right place. The truth is you can elope anywhere in the Mitten State you please. As long as you have permission to have a ceremony at the location you choose AND you have a legal wedding Officiant plus two (2) witnesses, above 18 years of age - you are good to go! Oh, and a marriage license but, that should be a given. When couples ask us where to elope in Michigan we tell them about our favorite places...
Where to elope in Michigan on the Beach
Oval Beach
Oval beach is the answer we give when we're asked, where to elope in Michigan on a beach. It's the only one in the area with a flat walk out and a wooden boardwalk (no burning toes in the sand); with a little platform at the end is the perfect place for a unity ceremony and super cure pictures, too! Parking is $10 per car this year, open year round. But, fair waning - they don't allow weddings there. No chairs, decor, no nothing Memorial day - Labor day. (We have other spots for that)
Where to elope in Michigan on the Riverfront
Want to know where to elope in Michigan along the lake front? We have three favorite lake front locations, depending on the time of day and year.
Wade's Bayou
Our #1 pic is Wade's Bayou in Douglas. It's a small (one table) gazebo on the Kalamazoo River. It's quaint, out of the way and crowded means 10 cards in the parking lot, mostly kayakers; plus it's free to enter and use. This is a great location for small group of people to gather, perform a brief ceremony, take some nice photos and then head into town for lunch or dinner. Good year round spot. Read more...
Where to elope in Michigan in Saugatuck
Two of our other favorite where to elope in Michigan answers are in Saugatuck, Michigan. The town lays on the banks of the Kalamazoo River, which leads into Lake Michigan. Saugatuck boast of the longest boardwalk in Michigan that lines it's shores where you'll see stunning views of the nearby mansions and million dollar yachts.
Wicks Park
Our #2 lakefront location pic is Wicks Park. This old fashioned raised gazebo is located Water Street, in the center of town; it's perfect for a rainy day back-up location, too. Finding parking downtown, combined with the steps leading up to the gazebo limit it from being the ideal location. But it sure is a pretty spot!
Coghlin Park
This park is another great answer when were asked where to elope in Michigan by couples. The grounds have modern art sculptures, wildflower garden and a large 40' gazebo with a flat entry way; its close proximity to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (and their large parking lot) make it an appealing choice. Even with the installed picnic tables there is plenty of room for guests to sit plus additional room if you'd like to add a few rows of chairs for your V.I.P. guests and families.
So those are a few of our favorite answers to the big question - Where to elope in Michigan!
